The tax incentives made North Carolina and especially Wilmington the film hub that it is today, and this seems like an especially important topic being that there are constantly talks about rescinding the tax credits. I would like to take a look at exactly what the tax incentives have brought to the state ( e.g. Iron Man 3, Safe Haven etc.) and the overall economic impact that it has had. I have connections in the film commission so I could get plenty of interviews there not to mention I would also interview executives at Screen Gems and local production companies. I would ask questions such as: Would your company have been founded in Wilmington without the incentives and how many jobs has your company produced. Being that we live in a country with an ever changing economic environment, sustainable jobs are a very important topic; and even though this project is focusing on North Carolina the information could be very useful for peoples in different states who want to bring in film jobs and further the industry. Overall, I will focus on the benefits and importance of the film tax incentive but also being balanced by showing the actual cost to the state and the overall economic impact that it has.
